Escape to the coast for a truly immersive creative experience with Indigo by the Sea, a unique residential natural dyeing workshop set against the beautiful backdrop of Sandown, Isle of Wight. Beginning with an introductory talk and the setup of a traditional natural indigo vat on Thursday evening, this inspiring three-day workshop invites participants to explore the art of indigo dyeing in a calm, supportive seaside environment.
Over the course of the weekend, you’ll experiment with a range of shibori resist techniques, creating a series of textile samples before developing your ideas into a larger finished piece. Suitable for both beginners and those with some experience, the workshop offers the perfect balance of learning, creativity and relaxation, all inspired by the rhythms and atmosphere of working by the sea.
Running from Thursday 30 April to Sunday 3 May, the experience includes three nights’ bed and breakfast accommodation, all materials and equipment, an informal vegetarian supper on the first evening, plus daily lunches and refreshments.
