ACCESS STATEMENT FOR INGLEWOOD GUEST HOUSE |
Introduction |
Inglewood is a friendly family run small guest house with 8 bedrooms, two of which are on the ground floor. We are in a quiet area of town 2 minutes walk to the town centre and beach. |
Pre-Arrival |
· Situated on a level part of the road, which is wide with low kerbs. |
· There is restricted parking in the road opposite for short stay, overnight and may be used unrestricted with a disabled badge. |
· There is a car park 400 yds away or on the road on side roads close by. |
· The train station is half a mile away and we offer a free pick up service from Sandown station on request. |
· The nearest bus stop is 2 minutes walk away and the main bus stops for access to the rest of the Island are 5 minutes walk away. |
· There are several taxi firms operating in town, detail of which can be found at reception. |
· Our website gives information on how to find us. |
· Ferries can be pre-booked by us at discounted rates. Please contact us for further information. |
Arrival |
· We have access at the side of the house via a small ramp over one step through a side gate suitable for wheelchair, mobility scooters, cycles and pushchairs. |
· Outside lighting is available. |
· Access to the guest house is by the Front Door which is wide and has four small steps with a handrail on the right hand side to the door and there is one shallow step into the Hall. Or for some rooms (including ground floor) via the side entrance. |
· Assistance is given with luggage. |
· Guide dogs are welcome. |
· It is possible to refrigerate medicines if necessary in the fridge solely for guest use. |
Main Entrance & Reception |
· Reception is in the Hallway of the Guest house. It is carpeted and lit by electric lighting. |
· Guests are escorted to the rooms and all facilities are explained. |
· There is someone available for assistance at most times. |
Public Areas - General |
· Leading off from the main hallway, on the same level, is the Breakfast Room. |
· Being a Victorian property, all doorways to the public areas are wide. |
· There are 16 steps on the main stairway to the first floor and a further 2 steps up to the top landing. There are no further floors. There is separate access to 3 rooms via the side entrance, a double room and a twin room are up a flight of 13 stairs , hand rail fitted both sides. A single room is on the ground floor. |
· There is one alarm call point in the main hall. |
Public Areas –WC |
· There is a WC on the first floor. |
· There are no adapted facilities or changing table for babies. |
Breakfast Room |
· The Breakfast Room is lit by natural light from large windows and by overhead lights with fan attachment and the room is carpeted. A door leads to the outside patio area. |
· The furniture can be moved. |
· Table height is uniform and is 70 cms from the floor, the tables have legs on each corner. |
· High chairs are available. |
· Breakfast service is half buffet and half service by waiting staff. |
· Vegetarian and gluten free diets are catered for. |
· Insulin medicines and diet foods can be refrigerated in the ‘guest only’ fridge. |
Shop |
· Not available on site, but there is a convenience store opposite. |
Outside Facilities |
· Leading off from the Breakfast Room is the patio area. There are two separate steps down onto the patio. |
· The patio is concrete with Victorian tiles and has a flower border. |
· There is a covered area of the terrace available for smokers, with seating and ash trays. |
· There is a washing line with pegs available. |
Bedrooms |
· Two ground floor en suite rooms, one with a double bed and a single /bunk bed. The other is a single room. There are no grab rails. |
· All bedrooms are carpeted and bathrooms have non slip vinyl floors. |
· All beds have bed head reading lights and double beds have access on both sides of the bed. |
· Televisions have remote controls. |
· Extra pillows and feather free pillows can be requested. |
· All rooms are centrally heated. |
· All rooms have kettles and alarm clocks. |
· The furniture is flexible and can be moved. |
Additional Information |
The hotel is smoke free in all areas except in the covered smoking area on the patio. |
· Escape routes are clearly signed and evacuation procedures are in all bedrooms on notices on the back of doors. |
· Reception is not manned 24 hours. Simply ring the doorbell or telephone if assistance is required. |
· Wheelchairs and other mobility equipment can be arranged with local companies. |
· There is good reception for mobile phones. |
